6th World Meurette Egg Championship
The Château du Clos de Vougeot, the Mecca of French gastronomy, has a know-how recognized throughout the world, it is the undisputed temple of the œufs en meurette. Since 1953, this dish, one of the best symbols of Burgundian gastronomy, has been served with every meal organized at the château. For each reception, the menu varies, only the œufs en meurette remain at each menu. The castle's resident chef achieves the technical feat of serving 1,200 perfectly poached œufs en meurette in no more than five minutes to 600 guests.On the strength of this speciality... and feat, the château has decided to create a culinary event in 2019: the World Meurette® Egg Championship, enabling national and international chefs to compete for the annual title of World Champion.
This year, the Château du Clos de Vougeot is organising its Oeuf en Meurette World Championship on Sunday 13 October 2024. It will be presided over by three-starred chef Georges Blanc. On this day, the public will be able to attend the tasting session, the round tables and workshops on offer, as well as the apprentice competition and the Oeuf en Meurette® World Championship, and find out which chef will succeed the reigning 2024 Champion: chef Fabien Patron of the Auberge Communale de Mont-sur-Lausanne in Mont-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland.
Exceptionally, the Château du Clos de Vougeot will only charge these rates on the day of the event:
Adult rate: 39€ (reception closes at 3 pm)
Youth rate from 8 to 17 years old: 19€
Under 8 years old: free of charge
End of meal service (included in admission ticket) at 3:30 pm
