PRIX DU CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2013: Chroniques de la Vigne de Fred Bernard A celebration of the pleasures of wine Fred Bernard has wine in his blood. Born shortly before the harvest in Burgundy, he grew up surrounded by boxes and cases of grands crus: his favorite playgrounds were the cellars of his grandfather and his great-grandfather, both winegrowers. We kept telling him: "When you grow up, you will make wine". Alas, he chose a career as an author; but the pleasure of wine remained. Over the pages, Bernard translates this passion into a series of short stories based on the anecdotes of his ancestors and his personal reflections on wine and tasting. We find there, as usual, his sensitivity, his humor, his keen sense of observation of people and his sensual features, for an ode to the pleasures of the nectar of the vines.
