Le Comptoir du Bénaton: A New Gourmet Stop at the Heart of the Château du Clos de Vougeot

This summer, the Château du Clos de Vougeot is delighted to welcome visitors to Le Comptoir du Bénaton, a new light dining area located in the former monks' winery. Designed as a welcoming place to relax and unwind, the Comptoir invites guests to extend their visit with a gourmet break in a setting steeped in history.

Before or after exploring the Château, Le Comptoir du Bénaton offers the perfect opportunity to discover the flavours of Burgundy in an authentic atmosphere. Created by the Château's resident chef, Alexandra Bouvret, the menu showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients through sharing platters, sweet treats, and a selection of regional beverages.

Simple, generous, and accessible, the Comptoir reflects the spirit of the Château du Clos de Vougeot, where wine heritage, gastronomy, and conviviality come together naturally.

A Tribute to Burgundy's Winemaking Traditions

The Comptoir takes its name from the bénaton, the traditional wicker basket with a rounded base carried on the shoulder by grape harvesters during the vintage. A lasting symbol of vineyard work and Burgundian expertise, it evokes the ancestral skills and traditions that have shaped the region's renowned wine heritage.

This tribute is especially meaningful as the Comptoir is located close to Le Porteur de Bénaton, the sculpture by Henry Bouchard standing in the courtyard of the former winery. In this way, the Comptoir forms part of the Château's living heritage, where every detail tells a story of Burgundy's rich viticultural past.
